Site Supervisor / Safety Lead

The Role:
  
We are looking for an experience, safety conscious Site Supervisor to join the team on a 10 – 12 month fixed term contract.  Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager this role will see you provide safety leadership whilst managing the interface between multiple contractors.  In addition to this you will;

  • Establish a site movement plan outlining site access, storage capability and arrangement by programme, labour, hoists, cranes etc
  • Monitor compliance with Company policies and legal regulations by inspecting mechanical, electrical and civil tasks
  • Ensure that any incidents on site are properly investigated, documented and reported
  • Coach, mentor and implement the Company’s health and safety program in the field
  • Ensure all reporting requirements, including, drug testing, safety JSA’s, risk assessments and meths statements are monitored and archived

About you:  

To be successful in this role you will be a team orientated Supervisor who has a solid health and safety focus.  You will have 7+ years’ site management experience on large scale construction projects, in addition to this you will;

  • Have comprehensive knowledge of the building process from start to finish, methods and materials
  • Have strong knowledge of site safety procedures and practices (Health & Safety accreditation or equivalent is advantageous)
  • Be a confident and engaging individual, who can motivate others and who has strong influencing skills
  • Demonstrate creativity, initiative, diplomacy, resourcefulness, and resilience, in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Well established communication and interpersonal skills

Estimator

The Company
Our client is New Zealand’s leading landscape design, build, care, and Green Technology innovation company with a track record of delivering exemplary landscape projects throughout Australasia. They provide all aspects of landscaping whether designing and building stunning residential landscapes, or working with the government to create visually striking public spaces.

The Role

  • This role would see you support the commercial team in the tender for large-scale landscaping projects. As well as this, you will:
  • Build price estimates for projects, provide quotes to clients and support negotiations in the tender process.
  • Complete a thorough project handover to the relevant Project Manager. 
  • Support reviews and analyses that enable Project Managers and Team Leaders to determine and track margin of their jobs.

Relevant Skills, Training and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Quantity Surveyor or Project Management Tertiary qualification
  • Preferred: Landscaping qualification to Level 4

Experience:

  • Advanced computer skills – in particular Excel and ideally Simpro
  • Min. 3 years’ experience in construction or landscaping estimating or quantity surveying
  • Preferred: Experience in procurement
  • Preferred: Hard landscape build and project supervision

Competencies:

  • Clearly expresses ideas in writing, in good grammatical form.
  • Generate ideas, recognise creative solutions and has a willingness to try them.
  • Team Player – thinks and acts as a member of the overall team.

Pre Construction Manager

The Role:
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the role will be supporting a variety of proposals and bids with varying levels of complexity across all main business workstreams. You will use your Programme methodologies and estimation/ costing skills while you work closely with the Bid team who will assist in the tender paperwork. 

  • Oversee the bid process ensuring all relevant parties are kept fully informed of their requirements and progress. This includes planning and advising of the bid activities and resources available for the pipeline of work.
  • Provide support and take responsibility for populating generic organisational content, Requests for Information, and larger bid submissions.
  • Take a proactive role in sales and pre-tender meetings and other key personnel from across the business. This could include initial research into perspective clients.
  • Key involvement in post contract award/loss stage to obtain full evaluation of bid successes and lessons learnt.
  • Identify opportunities that is profitable for the company and devise strategies around submitting winning proposals.
  • Provide input into bid writing in a creative manner so that the solution is demonstrated in the written response.
  • Support the management and monitoring bid progress, circulating clarification responses and identifying potential opportunities.

The Requirements:
To be successful in this role you will have experience working in either a similar role OR a Senior Project Management position where you’re ready to get off the tools and into the office. In Addition to this you will have:

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Strong team ethos, self-starting and enthusiastic
  • Clear and concise writing style
  • Experienced with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multi-task, whilst maintaining an eye for detail
  • Flexible and adaptable to meeting bidding deadlines.
  • Ability to develop relationships and communicate at all levels within the business.

The role
As an estimator, you will support the bid and tendering process of construction projects based nationwide. You will price, coordinate and work around estimating costs of projects including materials, labour, equipment hire, transport costs and everything in between. In addition to this you will;

  • Identify local market opportunities and contribute to the overall development of the business.
  • Obtain, review and asses tender opportunities, and submit requests for approval to prepare tenders.
  • Undertake site visits and determine construction methodology in conjunction with the wider business.
  • Contribute to the compilation of tender risk and opportunity registers
  • Hand-over key tender documentation and briefing the wider team upon obtaining a successful contract.

About you:
The successful candidate will have proven experience in an estimating role, within a civil or commercial based company. In addition to this, you will have;

  • Proven ability to interpret documents, drawings and take-off quantities.
  • Demonstrated experience in compiling tender submissions or detailed business reports.
  • A high level of computer literacy including the use of estimating software.
  • The ability to work closely with the wider business but also the ability to work autonomously to deliver the desired outcomes.
