Tessa Phillips

Having worked across a range of sectors seeking to fill roles from the upper echelon of the business world through to hands-on site staff, Tessa draws on her impressive market knowledge, industry expertise, and search-based skills to deliver top-shelf solutions.

Tessa began her journey within the recruitment industry almost accidentally having taken a temporary contract for a recruitment agency, and discovered she had a knack for finding the right person for the right role.

After exploring the globe extensively, Tessa uses her experiences as a traveler and applies it to her role as Search Lead at AJ Construct, because she knows that there’s always something beyond the surface and all it takes is a bit of digging to find the diamond in the rough.

Tessa joined the Alexander James team in 2015 supporting one of our Founding Directors with researching and head-hunting for C-Suite roles, and then took advantage of the opportunity to work in the “as built” environment with AJ Construct in 2019.

Aside from learning about a whole new industry and all that comes with it, Tessa is enjoying the role of mentor to the new team and values being able to offer guidance and support.

Outside of work, you will most likely find Tessa enjoying the great outdoors by tackling one of New Zealand’s great walks, canoeing, or camping.
