We believe in a whole market search approach across all roles. Why? Because we want to provide the best available talent in the market versus the best "active" job seekers via a job board. This approach creates a positive brand experience for candidates and limits high levels of disappointment and brand damage through traditional advertising. We back this up by providing ALL our consultants with the tools and resources to search effectively across multiple platforms.

Our Story

Our parent company, Alexander James, was established in 2011 by Tim Slyfield and Stuart Maxwell with a shared vision to provide recruitment services with a difference. They didn’t want to be just another consultancy that treats candidates as a database entry and jobs as a placement fee; everyone matters and every opportunity counts.


In 2019, Tim and Stu decided that while they had the Accounting & Finance and Digital, Data & Technology fields covered, maybe the “as built” environment could do with the Alexander James touch, so Alexander James Construction & Engineering was created to do just that.


Alexander James Construction & Engineering Managing Director, Toni Lea, is no stranger to recruiting for the construction, engineering and manufacturing sectors, even after nearly 20 years she still enjoys the challenge of searching for the right person and matching them to the right role. And Toni’s team are no different; we work hard to understand a client and candidate’s needs and wants and believe that by collaborating honestly and impartially everyone can find success.
